Welcome to the Start Line Newsletter Page- Last Revised September, 2015
Special Notes:
Dear 4KS families,
This is the page I use to communicate with parents/guardians to give the "scoop" on the happenings in 4KS.
Since the school year has not started yet, I will just highlight important events at Nixon for September and October which impact 4KS.
Vocabulary and Spelling
It is very important for students to remember to bring in their spelling lists on Fridays for tests. The students make their own lists on Monday out of words they need help on from the pretest and a list of the most commonly misspelled words for fourth graders.
Vocabulary Journals are due on Fridays. The student is responsible for writing 2 sentences for each word. They also need to draw and color a picture to go with the sentences. The picture and sentences need to take up the entire card.
Writing
Every Friday we have been practicing our Open Ended Response Question answers. This skill has proven successful for both 5th grade and the ASK test.
Math
We have been very busy in this subject. We have continued to practice multiplication and division. Students have been using manipulatives to identify the different number places and their values.
Social Studies
Students have been hard at work studying about what it takes to be a successful citizen in America. FourKS students have been working on a problem and solution project.
